Warm Homes Scheme

Northern Ireland

The Warm Homes Scheme is the Department for Social Development's  primary tool in tackling fuel poverty.

The scheme has been refocused and will target people on low incomes who need help to improve the energy efficiency of their homes. In particular, the scheme will target householders in receipt of a qualifying benefit with no central heating, solid fuel heating, Economy 7 or Liquid Petroleum Gas heating.

Social Development Minister Margaret Ritchie said: “Since its introduction in 2001, over 70,000 homes across Northern Ireland have benefited from a range of measures which have significantly improved their energy efficiency.

“I want to do everything in my power to champion the rights of the vulnerable and those in poverty. I want to target resources in a way which has maximum impact within our communities.”

Anyone who would like further information about the Warm Homes Scheme should call the single contact number 0800 988 0559.

Calls will be directed to the scheme manager responsible for the area in which the client lives.
